(June 27,2017) St. Louis, MO- Beraka Ministries and Meals for a Million is a community wide event for the entire St. Louis region.  A co-operative food-packaging event to produce one million dried non-perishable meals to be distributed to starving people in the St. Louis area and international countries.

“Beraka Ministries and Meals for a Million are committed to helping low-income, underserved families in the St. Louis area and beyond,” Beraka Ministries president Sam Rowley said. “More than 1 in 5 St. Louis families struggle with poverty. Extending our relationship means more opportunities to lend a helping hand through volunteer efforts in the community. Giving back to the people of St Louis both enriches the lives of those in such need and those who volunteer, and we look forward to the opportunity to serve and make a difference.”

Our goal is to pack one million meals and distribute those meals to qualified organizations so that they can feed the hungry in our area.

At the Meals for a Million event, more than 5,000 90-minute slots are filled with volunteers who will work an assembly line, combining ingredients and vitamins, to collectively make one million meals with two nutritional formulas (Fortified Rice & Beans and Instant Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal) that will then be packaged in sealed pouches.  Each sealed pouch provides a complete meal for six children (or four adults).

“Our long term goal is that this event year in and year out will continue to prosper and the impact will be felt through the energy of the more than 5,000 volunteers working collaboratively together to serve our community,” says Rowley. “It is crucial we all come together to tackle this big issue.”

The group will be collecting can goods and non-perishable items for the local food banks in the St. Louis area as part of the project to help fill the food pantries.

This event will be held at the St. Charles Family Arena on August 26 & 27, 2017. The hours are Saturday 9am-6pm and Sunday 9am-3pm. The volunteers will be invited to a celebration party after the last bag is packed. There will be several local bands playing music for all to enjoy.
